Queen Kapiolani Hotel Grand Opening
Upon the completion of an extensive renovation, the Queen Kapi’olani Hotel held its Grand Re-Opening party, a gala affair that allowed guests to Return to the Golden Era of Waikiki. Filled with sights, sounds, and experiences reminiscent of a bygone era of travel and Hawaiiana, guests were treated to three floors of curated experiences designed to showcase the newly refreshed common areas and spaces.
Era-specific hula/candy girls welcomed guests with lei and signature cocktail refreshers from Plan.Do.See. operated Knots Coffee Roasters. On the second floor, guests entered the Royal Gallery to discover a beautiful cultural display of refurbished portraits accompanies by stories shared by the the hotel’s in-house cultural advisor. The space was also animated by costumed characters from Iona Dance Co. The main event took place on the 3rd floor pool deck with a variety of food stations, live music, and a stunning view of Diamond Head. The highlight of the evening was the incredible visual performance displayed on the side of the hotel. Lights, music and dancers performed an incredible aerial dance performance not seen before in Hawaii.
After sundown, Queen Kapi’olani Hotel brand ambassador Aureana Tseu greeted the crowd with an oli chant to begin the evening’s program, which was followed by a blessing from Kahu Cordell Kekoa. The Queen Kapiolani Hotel also presented a $25,000 check to the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, who has been designated as the non-profit beneficiary of the hotel’s corporate giveback initiative.
