Nella Media Group Announces Launch of its First National Title: Lei, a Hawaii Travel & Lifestyle Publication for the LGBT Traveler
NMG//Nella Media Group today announced it will soon publish the first issue of Lei, a Hawaii travel and lifestyle publication for the modern LGBT traveler. Published online at LeiCulture.com and through a casual yet elegant annual print edition, Lei will showcase what makes Hawaii the most beautiful, culturally rich, and welcoming destination in the world. The first issue of the magazine will be distributed in May 2014 via direct mail to LGBT households in specific neighborhoods in target markets as well as through retail outlets and select distribution partners.
Lei are the traditional Hawaiian symbol of love, friendship, appreciation, and aloha. For generations the people of Hawaii have used lei to express these emotions, strengthen relationships, and give thanks. NMG has dubbed its new publication “Lei” with the intent to create a medium that will welcome, entertain, and give thanks to travelers before, after, and during their journey.
“With Lei we hope to bring a new appreciation of Hawaii to today’s LGBT traveler,” said Joe Bock, Lei Publisher and NMG COO. “From stunning landscapes and vibrant culture to the state’s recent approval of same-sex marriages, Hawaii is an ideal destination with diverse offerings. It is our goal to highlight the state’s depth of character and breadth of opportunities with a respectful, captivating publication relevant to today’s gay and lesbian traveler,” he continued.
When asked about marketing to the LGBT traveler, Kelly Sanders, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Area Managing Director stated, “If you knew of a market that consisted of 700 million people, who travel 4 to 5 times more often than the average person, have more disposable income and love adventure, luxury, dining, fun, seek it out and are willing to pay for it, would you consider this group worth marketing to? This is the GLBT Community."
"We are excited to launch Lei magazine, NMG’s first nationally distributed publication,” said Jason Cutinella, NMG CEO. "Lei helps fulfill NMG’s mission to supply ‘content for the modern traveler’ by promoting beautiful Hawaii to the LGBT traveler pre-arrival. This new title further diversifies our visitor content while significantly expanding our readership."
Lei will be mailed to LGBT households in the key source markets of San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Phoenix, Denver, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Chicago, New York and others. The magazine will also be distributed as select locations in Hawaii and other states. The addition of Lei adds national print distribution to NMG’s readership; an audience of over 8 million.
