Follow Us on Our Journey as FLUX Hawaii Brings Aloha Down Under with Sydney Pop-Up Shop

The FLUX Hawaii Shop, presented by Hawaii Tourism Oceania (HTO), will pop up Down Under, in Sydney, Australia to celebrate HTO’s Month of Lei. The event will kick off with an invitation-only VIP launch on Wednesday, May 24. The FLUX Hawaii Shop will offer goods for sale by a variety of Hawaii-based artisans and brands including fashion, accessories, stationery, and art, and host a diverse schedule of Hawaii cultural and creative workshops and “talk stories.” In addition, FLUX will debut a new line of products made in collaboration with select vendors that will be sold exclusively at the FLUX Hawaii Shop during its launch.  This will include leather goods made in collaboration with Leather Soul and Reyn Spooner; apparel with Matt Bruening, Salvage Public and HVN Apparel; slip-ons with Island Slipper; and accessories with Jana Lam, Beachcake, and Miemiko.

The Sydney event follows three years of exciting FLUX Hawaii events including an event during New York Fashion Week, and pop-up shops in Brooklyn, New York City, and Venice, Los Angeles. This year the FLUX Hawaii Shop will offer visitors a curated selection of nearly 30 Hawaii-based and Hawaii-inspired brands.

"Our goal is to showcase the FLUX Hawaii brand, which represents the current of Hawaii, along with all of our Hawaii partners, to Sydney, and Australia as a whole," said Jason Cutinella, CEO, NMG / Nella Media Group . "We feel the people of Australia share a similar lifestyle and a love for Hawaii culture. Each of the events at the FLUX Hawaii Shop are designed to share the truly unique and contemporary nature of Hawaii. We are grateful to each of our sponsors and partners who have come together to make this possible," he continued.

Hawaii Tourism Oceania Australia Country Manager Kerri Anderson, said HTO was thrilled to be a partner in the FLUX Hawaii Shop. “Australians absolutely love Hawaii – over 300,000 Aussies visit the islands each year,” she said. “Hawaii’s traditional culture and aloha spirit are world famous, but to be able to support Hawaii-based artists and musicians to come to Australia to showcase the modern Hawaii will help Australians see a different side of Hawaii culture. We are proud to support the inaugural visit of the FLUX Hawaii Shop to Australia.”

The FLUX Hawaii Shop is made possible with support from Hawaii Tourism Oceania, the Creative Industries Division of the State of Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (CID/DBEDT), Hawaiian Airlines, Marriott Hotels and Resorts, and Klick Communications. In addition to Hawaii-themed programming and in-store events the Shop will feature special performances, made possible by CID/DBEDT, by Creative Lab Music Immersive artists Kimié Miner, who won the Na Hoku "Best Contemporary Album of the Year 2016" award and Izik, dubbed one of Hawaii’s most exciting emerging pop and R&B artists.
