Chinatown is a bi-annual creative outlet connecting the community with the historic Honolulu arts district. Chinatown reaches a broad audience, from local musicians and artists to multi-national business leaders.

A limited run of copies is distributed throughout Chinatown and surrounding areas.

Ward Village

FORWARD Journal

Spring 2015 – Spring 2016

NMG helped develop the design and launch this Forward Journal in 2015 and published it until Spring 2016. With its oversized format, stunning imagery, sharp design, and insightful editorial, Forward Journal for The Howard Hughes Corporation was a curated exploration of the people shaping the company’s Ward Village master-planned community in the heart of Honolulu. With a focus on innovative entrepreneurs, inspired design, and community stewards, the quarterly lifestyle publication reflected a thoughtful neighborhood grounded in its past but passionate about its future.

Our Kaka‘ako

Foundry

Working with Kamehameha Schools, NMG designed a quarterly publication reflective of the flourishing urban community from which it was crafted, Our Kaka‘ako. Thoughtfully written and designed, Foundry brought together a growing community of artists and artisans and focuses on a lifestyle of intent and innovation.

HŌKŪ

HŌKŪ, the exclusive in-room publication for Marriott Bonvoy–Hawaii, presents a constellation of stories to explore Hawai‘i. Settling in the islands, the first Hawaiians turned to the night sky, glittering with nā hōkū, the Hawaiian word for stars, to find their way. Inspired by this natural source of knowledge, HŌKŪ serves as a guide to the stunning beauty and deeply rooted multicultural lifestyle that makes Hawai‘i sparkle like none other.

The Magazine for Mokulele Airlines

Hopper is the custom in-flight magazine for Mokulele Airlines, Hawai‘i’s favorite island hopper. The tri-annual magazine is engaging and experiential, full of adventurous editorial featuring each of the islands to which Mokulele Airlines flies.

Mokulele Airlines serves 10 Hawai‘i destinations with more than 120 daily flights. Mokulele offers access to the less traveled, less crowded destinations that have made Hawai‘i one of the world’s premier travel destinations.

In The Seat of a Stranger's Car

In the Seat of a Stranger’s Car is the debut publication of renowned local writer and former FLUX contributor, Beau Flemister. Set in the bubbling ethnic melting pot of Hawai’i, by day, the pseudo-intellectual protagonist is a struggling writer who teaches at a renowned prep school. By night, he is a full-time valet, surrounded by a lewd yet lovable cast of coworkers who challenge his misplaced sense of entitlement.

Juggling jobs and a budding romance with a late-night flowergirl, the narrator finds himself on a journey around the island but ends up on a new odyssey entirely where he unearths something much more meaningful in the process: himself.
