Hāloa

Go behind the scenes of Hāloa, a short film bringing to life one of Hawai’i’s most sacred origin stories, the birth of kalo (taro) from Wākea and Ho’ohōkūkalani’s stillborn child, and the naming of their second son, Hāloa, as the first Hawaiian.  This intimate special follows filmmakers and cultural storytellers as they honor a sacred mo’olelo (story) on screen, revealing how an ancestral tale of family, sacrifice, and ‘āina (land) still resonates today.
